Boy, 13, rescued after falling into water in Granton Harbour as police, paramedics, fire service and coastguard attend

A 13-year-old boy has been rescued after falling into the water in Granton Harbour this afternoon.

Police, paramedics, fire crews and coastguard teams were called to the scene at around 2pm.

One eye-witness, Garry Scott, said: "I saw a local boat go round the western side of the harbour and come back with another person on board. Rescue services were waiting, the person was wrapped in foil and taken to a waiting ambulance.”

Three members of the Forth Corinthian Yacht Club launched their boat and helped haul the boy out of the water and took him to shore.

A fire service spokesperson said the boy was left in the hands of paramedics and it is thought he will be okay.

The spokesperson said: "We did attend and we did rescue a 13-year-old child."

Exact details about how the boy ended up in the water are not yet clear.

But a police spokesperson confirmed they were called to a report of a boy falling into the water.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has also been contacted for more details.
