Boy, 3, among group rescued from Cramond Island

A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy was among nine people rescued from Cramond Island in the Firth of Forth.

It is believed that the group had been trapped with the incoming tide at around 3pm yesterday.

The RNLI lifeboat Jimmie Cairncross was launched and within minutes the group was safe.

A spokesman for Queensferry RNLI said: “If anyone finds themselves trapped on Cramond Island by the incoming tide, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard. The Coastguard will alert the lifeboat.

“They must never attempt to wade or swim ashore. We advise to check the tide tables before attempting to cross Cramond Island.”
