Brand new coffee spot serving fresh drinks and pastries opens just minutes from Holyrood Park
The Hatch at The Scholar’s Hotel will be serving drinks and pastries to those taking in Edinburgh's autumnal walks
A brand new coffee spot has opened just moment from Holyrood Park right on time for autumn and winter walks through the city.
The Hatch, a new hole-in-the-wall cafe, has opened inside The Scholar Hotel at the University of Edinburgh’s Pollock Estate on Holyrood Park Road.
The grab-and-go stop is just a few steps from some of Edinburgh’s most popular walking routes including Holyrood Park, Arthur’s Seat and The Meadows, which will be in full autumn bloom in just a matter of weeks.
Located inside the hotel’s Garden Terrace, The Hatch will be serving up hot and cold drinks as well as freshly baked pastries, to-go food and even dog treats for four-legged friends.
Gavin MacLennan, Group General Manager at University of Edinburgh Hospitality Collection, said:"Edinburgh is such a fantastic city to explore on foot, particularly as we head into Autumn and the leaves start to turn.
“We're lucky to be right on the doorstep of some of its best walking routes so we wanted to create somewhere people could stop for a great coffee, take a moment to relax and make the most of everything this part of Edinburgh has to offer.”
The launch of The Hatch comes after the recent opening of Abacus, a newly refurbished restaurant within The Scholar Hotel.
The restaurant and serves breakfast and all-day dining options, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
The university-run Pollock Estate is also home to The Scott Hotel, KM Hotel, KM Apartments as well as summer accommodation and event venues.
