Brass band trumpets its fame

A LOTHIANS brass band has won a major honour at a national contest.

Dalkeith and Monktonhall Brass Band took second place in the first section competition of the Scottish Brass Band Championships.

The band will represent Scotland at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain to be held in Cheltenham in September and now form part of the top ten bands in Scotland and top 100 in the UK.
