Brazilian Hearts fan buys £55,000 of shares

A HEARTS fan living in Brazil has bought 500,000 shares in the club in an effort to help it through its current financial difficulties.

Leith-born Jimmy Ross, who works in the oil and gas industry, has invested £55,000 in their current share offer – the largest single donation by one fan. The 62-year old bought one £27,500 share package three weeks ago and a second last week – each share costs 11p.

He said: “I was born in Leith and have been a lifelong Hearts supporter. I now live abroad so do not get to many matches so buying shares was the only real option I had to assist our club. As soon as I heard about the share issue I was very keen to play my part in helping the club in its hour of need. It’s vital the club survives for the generations to come.”

The club’s share issue has so far raised in excess of £800,000 since its launch on October 27.
