Broadband speeds into 6500 homes

A BROADBAND boost for thousands of city homes and business has today been announced by BT.

The communications giant revealed that more than 6500 properties in Morningside would enjoy super-fast fibre optic broadband as part of a £2.5 billion roll-out of the service.

The upgrade is due to be completed in autumn next year.

Brendan Dick, director of BT Scotland, said: “BT’s roll-out of super-fast broadband is marching on.

“Our latest investment will propel internet users at home and at work into the 21st century fast lane, and marks another milestone in the development of Scotland’s next generation communications.

Jim Eadie, MSP for Edinburgh Southern, said he was “delighted” with the upgrade which is “central to the growth of many local businesses”.

“BT’s programme of upgrades is critical in ensuring that Edinburgh’s communities have access to 21st-century broadband services,” he added.
