A Leith Walk firm has announced it is relocating after 40 years in the wake of Drum Property Group’s £50 million proposals for the site.
The Bed Shop has been serving the community at its popular store for four decades but has failed to reach an agreement with the developers to return to the site.
The shop will cease trading on Leith Walk on Friday, August 31 and will be relocating to Bonnington Trade Estate at Bonnington Toll.
A tweet from The Bed Shop’s Twitter account read: “It’s very sad and certainly not what I’d want. My lease was extended but only up until June next year.
“I therefore had a decision to make and whilst I’d ideally have liked to operate out of both outlets for a period of time, other factors precluded me from doing so.
“I’ve no plans currently to locate back to Leith Walk, despite being offered terms, and Bonnington is clearly an unknown quantity so who knows what the future will hold.”
The store is currently hosting a relocation sale until the end of the month.
