Car hits wall and overturns - driver in hospital

A DRIVER has been left with “extensive injuries” after his car collided with a wall and overturned.

The 20-year-old was at the wheel of a black Mercedes A200 when the accident happened at the roundabout junction of Colinton Road at Oxgangs Road North at 12.45am today.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he remains in a serious condition.

Road closures were put in place and all carriageways, except one lane southbound, were reopened around 7am.

Sergeant Keith Denholm of Road Policing said: “Sadly, a young man has sustained extensive injuries as a result of this incident we’re urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the vehicle around the time of the collision, to get in touch.”
