Circus ban petition bid

A PETITION with 1600 names calling for a ban on wild animals in circuses has been handed in to MSPs.

Edinburgh-based animal protection charity OneKind wants the Scottish Parliament to act where the UK Government failed to do so.

And it drew attention to recent news footage which showed shocking examples of severe abuse of animals in UK circuses.

Labour MSP Elaine Murray said: “There is an opportunity for the Scottish Government to be compassionate and take the lead on this issue. ”
