City launches consultation on council house priorities

A CONSULTATION is being carried out in the Capital to find out what members of the public think about social housing priorities.

The study being carried out by the city council will ask questions such as whether foster carers should be allocated housing based on the number of bedrooms they need to foster children, or whether time served in the armed forces should be taken into account when determining waiting time for a house.

City housing leader Councillor Paul Edie said: “Given the acute shortage of housing in Edinburgh we need to be fair and transparent in how we allocate homes. This is an opportunity for people to tell us what they think.

“It is important that our policies take into account the views of all our stakeholders.

“I think it only right that we explore all available options to see how we can help those affected by homelessness, especially our ex-service personnel.”
