City will be beauty spot

CONTESTANTS in the 2011 Miss World competition are to visit the Capital to celebrate the competition’s 60th birthday.

As part of a UK tour, the 122 participants will visit Edinburgh Castle on Wednesday to witness the firing of the One o’Clock Gun and experience a Beating Retreat ceremony.

Julia Morley, CEO of the Miss World Organisation, said: “The Miss World participants are so looking forward to coming to Scotland and experience the famous Scottish traditions. Sixty years on, the final [has] a global audience of over one billion viewers.”
