City’s prized Turners go on display

THE Scottish National Gallery is bringing in the New Year in traditional fashion by hosting its annual display of Turner watercolours.

These works, bequeathed to the gallery by collector Henry Vaughan, span JMW Turner’s career, from his early topographical wash drawings to his atmospheric sketches of continental Europe from the 1830s and 40s.

Curator Hannah Brocklehurt was working on the exhibition ahead of its opening on January 1. It runs until January 31.
