Closing date for much loved East Links Family Park in Dunbar after 25 years

The closing date is just days away

A popular attraction which has welcomed countless families through its doors over the past 25 years has announced it will close its doors for good this weekend.

East Links Family Park in Dunbar will welcome families for the final time on Sunday, August 30. The closing date announcement comes just weeks after the Bell family, who run the park, revealed they intended to close after a planning application for a new farm was rejected.

In a statement, the Bell family thanked all the families and children who have visited over the past two and a half decades and reflected on the memories which have been made at the park in that time.

“For a quarter of a century, East Links Family Park has been a very special part of family life in East Lothian and beyond.

“We have had the privilege of welcoming generations of families through our gates, watching children grow up, return with their own children, and create countless happy memories along the way.

“None of that would have been possible without the extraordinary team of people who have worked at the park over the years. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many, many members of staff who have given their time, energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the park.

“Their hard work and teamwork have been at the very heart of everything we have achieved, and without them, East Links Family Park simply would not have earned the wonderful award winning reputation it has today.”

The family said that closing East Links Family Park is “undoubtedly a very emotional moment for everyone involved”.

“After 25 years, it has become much more than a business; it has been a huge part of our family’s life and the lives of the people who have worked here and visited us.”

The team behind the park also paid tribute to staff member Tara Paxton—who has worked at the park for 23 years.

The family said: “Tara is just one example of the incredible dedication and loyalty that has been such a huge part of the park’s story, and we are immensely grateful for everything she has contributed over the years.”

Thanking the park’s loyal customers for their years of visits. The team said it had been an “absolute pleasure” to welcome families.

It read: “We feel incredibly privileged to have played a small part in so many family days out, birthday celebrations, school trips, holidays and special occasions. The memories created at East Links Family Park will always be something we are incredibly proud of.”

The closure of the East Links Family Park is not the end of the family business—with focus now turning to sister park Clyde Valley Family Park in Carluke.

The family said: “We look forward to welcoming many familiar faces, as well as new families, to enjoy the events, activities and experiences that have become so loved at East Links and to make a whole new collection of wonderful memories together.”
