Coach driver wins unfair sacking case

A COACH driver who was sacked after a tourist criticised him on a website has won his employment tribunal against an Edinburgh firm.

David Marshall lost his job with Rabbies Trail Burners on the Royal Mile in February after taking a party to the Isle of Skye.

A disgruntled passenger complained on website Trip Advisor because he had not taken them to Eilean Donan Castle – even though it was closed that day.

The 39-year-old was fired for gross misconduct, with the firm also taking exception to him meeting a female friend during a coach stop off.

However, a panel has ruled that Mr Marshall, originally from Paisley, had been unfairly dismissed and awarded him £2600 in compensation.
