Crews battle depot blaze

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire at a recycling depot in the city yesterday.

The blaze broke out in a large quantity of rubbish in Albert Road just before 6pm.

Nobody was injured in the fire, which 11 firefighters attended with three appliances from McDonald Road and Marionville.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said: “A large quantity of rubbish was alight out in the open, which caused quite a big plume of smoke at one point.

“Firefighters used two lines of hose to extinguish the fire, and a JCB was helping us.”
