Armed police recovered cannabis worth a four-figure sum after officers swooped on a property during a ‘pre-planned operation’ in Lochend earlier today.

Residents in the area reported being unable to get out on to their street due to the incident as armed police surrounded the middle floor property on Lochend Avenue during a stand-off which lasted several hours.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers carried out a pre-planned operation at an address in Lochend Avenue, Edinburgh at around 7am on Sunday, 17 May.

“A quantity of cannabis, estimated to be worth a four-figure sum and other items were seized.
