Police in Edinburgh have released CCTV images of two men they wish to speak to who they believe they may have information that could assist with an ongoing investigation into an incident during which two men were assaulted.

The incident, which left two victims ‘traumatised’ took place around 12:30am on Thursday 2 January 2020, at the Canongate in Edinburgh.

The police believe that the men pictured in the CCTV will be able to assist in their enquiries

The first man in the images is described as 5ft 7ins in height, with a tanned complexion, stocky build, and in his early 30s. He was wearing a dark flat peaked baseball cap, dark clothing, jeans and spoke with an east London accent.

The second man that police are looking for is described as between 6ft 1in and 6ft 2ins, with a tanned complexion and average build. He was wearing a dark zipped hooded top and jeans.

Detective Constable Pete Shannon, of Gayfield CID, said: "Both victims were left traumatised from this incident. We are eager to trace the men pictured as we believe they may be able to assist our enquiries, and would urge anyone who may recognise them to get in touch with us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0151 of 2 January, 2020, or report this anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
