Child porn dad and son sentenced

A FATHER and son were arrested at the same time for downloading child pornography – despite neither knowing of the other’s offences.

Police acted on a tip-off to swoop on James Fallon and his son, Nicholas, in Almondbank Terrace, Shandon.

James, 64, downloaded 1154 pictures, mainly of girls aged between ten and 15, while Nicholas, 29, was found to have 629 images, all of boys aged between ten and 16. The son also had 24 movies on his computer.

They appeared separately at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month to admit being in possession of indecent images of children.

Ahead of sentencing yesterday, James’ defence solicitor, Matthew Nicholson, said his client had suffered issues with his sexuality. The court was also told Nicholas had lost his job in the IT department at Edinburgh University.

His solicitor Mark Harrower added: “His mother is waiting at home. Waiting to see if her husband and son are going home.”

Nicholas was jailed for eight months while his dad was put on probation for three years.

Both were added to the sex offenders register.
