Cocaine, heroin seized in £66k drugs raid

A SIGNIFICANT amount of Class A and B drugs have been recovered in north Edinburgh following an intelligence led operation.

Officers from the Edinburgh division proactive unit executed separate warrants on Thursday, May 19, at addresses in Great Junction Street and Pilrig Heights. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of cocaine, heroin and cannabis worth an estimated street value of £66,500.

Two men, aged 33 and 23, were arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act and will appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, May 20th.

Detective Inspector Alan O’Brien of Gayfield CID said: “Acting on vital intelligence from our communities local officers successfully seized a substantial quantity of Class A and Class B drugs from two addresses in the north of the city.

“I’m delighted that as a result of this operation we have prevented these harmful substances from reaching our streets.

“Drug crime remains a priority for Police Scotland and we remain committed to arresting those involved in this illicit trade.
