Drugs worth £150,000 seized by Fife police

Police have seized illegal drugs worth a six-figure sum during routine traffic checks in Fife.

A large stash of cannabis with an estimated street value of £150,000 was discovered by Police Scotland officers on patrol in the Kirkcaldy area.

Police Scotland officers found the drugs after stopping a black Vauxhall Insignia in the town’s Strathkinnes Road at lunchtime on Tuesday.

Searches are now under way to locate the two men who were travelling in the car after they fled the scene.

The pair are both thought to be aged in their mid-20s to mid-30s and of Eastern European descent.

One was described as wearing all black and the other was dressed in a grey top with a high-visibility vest over the top.

Officers have appealed for help in tracking down the two men.

Detective Inspector Scott Davidson, of Kirkcaldy Police Station, said: “This was a significant recovery and our enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1439 of 26 May or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
