Dunbar man Terence Pegg facing long jail term after being found guilty of sexually assaulting young girls

An East Lothian man who sexually assaulted two young girls is facing a lengthy jail sentence.

Terence Pegg began abusing one child when she was just three-years-old by touching her on the vagina with his fingers over a four year period.

Pegg also targeted a second victim when she was only seven-years-old by kissing her on the mouth and touching her breasts.

The 59-year-old denied the allegations but was found guilty of five offences by a jury following a trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month.

The jury found Pegg, from Dunbar, East Lothian, had abused the first child between August 2013 and August 2017. He also sexually assaulted the second child between March 2015 and March 2018.

Pegg was also convicted of showing the first victim images of his penis on his mobile phone and assaulting both children by by slapping them on the body and repeatedly punching them to the head between March 2014 and August 2018.

He was due to be sentenced at the capital court on Tuesday but Sheriff Gillian Sharp deferred sentence for an additional report to next week.

The court was told Pegg is currently working as a delivery driver and continues to deny the offences. Pegg was placed on the sex offenders register on an interim basis and will return to the court for sentencing on October 29.
