Easter Dalry Road: Armed officers spotted on Edinburgh street but police say no cause for alarm

Streets in the west of Edinburgh were closed off this morning after a large police presence was spotted on Easter Dalry Road.

An eyewitness told the Edinburgh Evening News that they saw armed police amongst ‘six or seven’ emergency vehicles that descended on a residential area in Dalry around 7.30am. The scale of the response was captured on video.

The Evening News understands it was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the public.

The eyewitness added Dalry Road was closed from Haymarket Station.

Lothian Buses announced all buses on Dalry Road were diverted, but the road is now clear.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a concern for a person around 6.25am at a property in Easter Dalry Road, Edinburgh on Tuesday, 13 October, 2020.

“Officers, including a specialist firearms team, attended. No one was injured and there was no threat to the wider public.
