The lout, of Grove Street, Edinburgh, then spat at brother Lewis, who was also trying to intervene, which hit him on the face.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard Crombie arrived at the family home at Halmyre Street in Leith at around 5.30pm on February 19 this year.

The 22-year-old soon became involved in a row with mum Melanie and during the incident he proceeded to assault all three family members resulting in the police being called.

Fiscal depute Miriam Clark said the family did not want a non-harassment order imposed as they want to spend Christmas together.

Ms Clark also added the family members had told her they wanted to “put the incident behind them and move on”.

Defence agent Peter Winning said his client was already serving two community payback orders with unpaid work elements as a result of prior incidents involving family members.

Mr Winning said Crombie still had 52 hours of work to complete as the opportunity to carry out the work had been curtailed due to the periods of lockdown.

Sheriff John Mundy warned the repeat offender to be of good behaviour and deferred sentence to next month for background reports.
