Edinburgh crime: Man left with serious injuries after assault between Cowgate and Candlemaker Row

Detectives in Edinburgh are investigating after a city centre fight which left a man with serious injuries.

The 43-year-old victim had been involved in an argument while walking between Cowgate and Candlemaker Row in the early hours of Friday. During the argument, the man was pushed over and sustained serious injuries as a result. He was taken to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Detective inspector Kevin Tait said police enquiries are “ongoing” into the incident. He said: “We believe that members of the public assisted the man following the incident and we would urge those who assisted to contact officers as soon as possible.”

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0350 of October 14.
