Edinburgh man Selim El Syed who was reported missing from Leith has been found safe and well, police confirm

A vulnerable 54-year-old man who was reported missing from Leith has now been traced safe and well, police have confirmed.

Concerns were sparked after Selim El Syed disappeared after being last seen in East Hermitage Place on Monday afternoon.

Police launched a public appeal on Wednesday in a bid to locate him.

A statement released by the force on Thursday evening said: “Police Scotland can confirm that Selim El Syed, 54, who had been reported missing from Leith has been traced safe and well.

"The public and media are thanked for their assistance.”
