Police have arrested a man after reports of a disturbance and housebreaking in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Saughton Mains Bank area.

Locals reported hearing “screaming” at around 3am this morning in the residential area in the west of Edinburgh.

Police officers arrived at the scene and arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the incident.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Edinburgh Evening News “a few” police vehicles were in the street for two hours, and an unknown vehicle was taken away.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3am on Sunday, 24 May, officers in Edinburgh were called to reports of a disturbance and housebreaking in the Saughton Mains Bank area.

“A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.”
