Edinburgh police charge uninsured van driver after catching him on his mobile

Police in Edinburgh have charged a man and seized his van after catching him using his mobile phone while driving.

Officers also found the man, who was stopped in the Howdenhall area on Tuesday morning, did not have valid insurance for the vehicle.

In a tweet, Edinburgh Police said: “There are consequences to actions and #HowdenhallTeam4 demonstrated this when they stopped a driver for being on his mobile phone, but also discovered he didn’t have a valid certificate of insurance.

“We charged him and we seized his vehicle!”
