Edinburgh police close Caroline Terrace after death of elderly woman

Police have closed Caroline Terrace in Corstorphine this afternoon, after the death of an elderly woman.

Officers, along with a crew from the Scottish Ambulance Service, were called at around 1:25pm, after the 80-year-old collapsed at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that the woman, who has not yet been named, died a short time later.

The spokesperson added that the force was not investigating any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

They told the Edinburgh Evening News: “Officers were called to assist the ambulance service after an 80-year-old woman took unwell on Caroline Terrace in Edinburgh around 1.25pm on Friday, 14 May, 2021.

“She died a short time later.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

It is understood that Caroline Terrace, which was shut by officers soon after their arrival, remains closed and will re-open later today.
