Edinburgh Police increase patrols in city centre after reports of anti-social behaviour and youth crime

As reported in the Evening News, police were called to Bristo Square last Saturday night after a huge gathering saw people ‘smashing bottles, smoking weed and paying absolutely no attention to social distancing’.
The police also increased patrols in and around Waverley Mall and along Princes Street after reports of young people congregating in groups and drinking alcohol.

Hide AdCurrent Scottish Government Covid-19 restrictions prevent people from gathering, and Edinburgh Police Division are urging people to “be considerate” and stick to the guidelines this weekend.
A spokesperson for the police said: “Following an increase in antisocial behaviour in Bristo Square, George Square and Nicolson Street during the past few weekends, we will be carrying out focused patrols in these areas this weekend.
“Please be considerate and always remember the current Scottish Government guidelines.”
