Edinburgh police probe ‘fall’ outside Green Room wine bar as woman, 43, hospitalised with 'serious injuries'

A 43-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after reportedly falling outside an Edinburgh wine bar.

Police said they were called to the incident by The Green Room in William Street at around 1:15am on Thursday morning.

A picture from the scene today shows a police van parked outside the bar with the entrance area taped off and what appears to be plain clothes officers in attendance.

Locals have reported that a woman may have fallen into the basement area outside the bar.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.15am on Thursday, 24 September, officers were called to a report of a woman having fallen outside a bar in William Street, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and a 43-year-old woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
