Edinburgh research doctor banned after drink driving

A RESEARCH doctor from the capital has appeared from custody and admitted failing to give two samples of breath after being suspected of drinking and driving.

Claire Leiper, who is 38, of Woodville Terrace, Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened at Kelso Police Station in the Borders on Saturday.

A not guilty plea to failing to give a sample of breath when requested to do by the police on an unclassified road south of the village of Heiton near Kelso on Saturday was accepted by the Crown.

The court was told she had a drink driving conviction in 2012.

Sheriff Peter Paterson deferred sentence until; September 20 for the production of background reports and imposed an interim driving ban for the time being.
