Michael Renshaw, 30, signed up to the woman’s boot camp before sending the sordid recording to her email account just weeks later.

During the depraved recording the creep could be heard making sexual noises including calling out the woman’s name.

The shocked victim didn’t open the email attachment but after spotting Renshaw in the thumbnail “holding his erect penis” she called in the police.

Renshaw was arrested and charged later that day and during a subsequent police interview he admitted sending the footage to the woman which showed him masturbating.

Renshaw was in the dock for sentencing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court after previously pleading guilty to directing a verbal sexual communication to the woman for the purposes of obtaining sexual gratification.

Sheriff Adrian Fraser acknowledged Renshaw is a first offender and that he had “expressed remorse” about the offence and said he could deal with the matter as an alternative to custody.

Renshaw was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register and under supervision for two years and also ordered to carry out 189 hours of unpaid work.

Previously the court heard Renshaw joined the victim’s personal training regime in early 2020 and the pair also linked up on social media.

Renshaw also managed to secure employment at the woman’s place of work and sent the email with the video attached to her at around 10.45am on May 19, 2020.

The court was told the woman “observed a single video and from the thumbnail she observed that there was a male who was naked and was holding his erect penis”.

She immediately contacted the police and Renshaw was arrested at his home in the Leith area of the capital at around 6.45pm that evening.

Solicitor Rebecca Weissgerber, defending, said her client was currently unemployed and lived with his mother and brother.

The lawyer said Renshaw was “embarrassed and ashamed” at sending the video and “thoroughly regrets his behaviour”.

She added: “[The woman] was a personal trainer and Mr Renshaw had joined her boot camp.“He became attached to her and things became unacceptable and he fully accepts that.”
