Elderly Linlithgow resident tricked out of thousands by bogus workmen

AN elderly man was driven to his bank by cruel bogus workmen who conned him out of a four-figure sum.

Three men – who all had Irish accents – turned up at his home in Lennox Gardens, Linlithgow, on Sunday, Monday and Thursday this week.

They claimed to carry out extensive gardening work before taking their victim – aged in his 80s – to his bank in a Transit-type vehicle.

The first suspect is described as white, in his 30s, of slim build, with short brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark jacket.

The second suspect is described as white, in his 40s, of stout build, with receding hair. He was wearing jeans and a denim jacket.

The third suspect is described as white, in his 30s, well built, with short dark hair. He was wearing all dark clothing.

Detective Constable Craig Waddell of Livingston CID said: “We’re appealing for anyone who may have information which can help with this investigation to come forward.”
