Family fears for missing man Ian Cameron five days after he disappeared

The family of a man missing for five days are said to be deeply concerned after he left for work on Tuesday night but never arrived.

Ian Cameron, left his home in Milray Avenue in New Cumnock, Ayrshire, just before midnight to head to work.

He got into his car, a silver Seat Leon, vehicle registration number, YE06 HDX. However, he did not arrive at work.

On 8 October, his employer contacted his family to advise them that Ian had not been at work for several days. On Friday, 9 October, Ian’s family contacted police to report him missing.

Police say he may have travelled to Fife, Tayside, or north west Scotland, after his car was spotted in Perthshire the following morning.

Ian is described as white, around 5’ 4 – 5’ 5 inches in height, with a medium build, long grey/white hair, which is often worn in a ponytail.

Police say that when last seen, he was wearing a beige coloured polo shirt, navy blue combat trousers, a navy blue fleece and black shoes.

Extensive enquiries are now underway to locate Ian with a CCTV sighting of him around midnight, carrying a large overnight bag.

Enquiries have also indicated that his car was in the Luncarty area north of Perth around 5am on 7 October. 2020.

However, Police Scotland say that there have been no further sightings of Ian or his vehicle since then.

Sergeant Paul Tomkinson said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Ian or his car to contact us.

"His family is very concerned and just want to know he is safe and well.

"We know his vehicle was in the Luncarty area and we are checking for any other sightings, however, at this stage, we have been unable to confirm if Ian left that area to travel further north or east or if he has stayed in the location.

"If anyone has any information or knowledge as to Ian’s whereabouts, please contact us.”
