Fire crews battle burning car in Gilmerton

Fire crews in Edinburgh have put out a burning car in an alleyway in Gilmerton.

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue said they were called at 1:15 this morning to the alleyway between Hyvot Loan and Gilmerton Dykes Drive, near Morrisons.

The spokesperson said no one was injured in the fire, and that crews left the scene at around 2:00 am.

They did not say if the cause of the fire was being treated as suspicious.

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
