Four men charged following major operation in Midlothian street

Police in Midlothian swooped on an address in Danderhall following a serious assault which prompted a multi-agency emergency response.

Six police cars and eleven vans were spotted on the scene by witnesses as officers arrested four men in a major operation.

The incident took place at an address on Edmonstone Terrace, Danderhall, Dalkeith around 2.40pm on Sunday, 10 May following a report of a disturbance.

One local, who did not wish to be named, told the Edinburgh Evening News: "It was a major incident. Some guys got out of a car and went towards a house and next thing we knew, there's police cars and vans everywhere.

"I counted 11 police vans. There was six police cars, and at one time three ambulances.

"The police must have been there for about five or six hours, and they had blocked off both ends of the road. People couldn't even get down the street in their cars.

"It was utter pandemonium in Edmonstone Terrace," he added.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers attended an address on Edmonstone Terrace around 2.40pm on Sunday, 10 May, following a report of a disturbance.

"A multi-agency response took place and one man, 35, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"Four men, aged 33, 34, 17, and 17 have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

"They are expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

"Further enquiries are ongoing."
