Haddington robbery: Couple robbed as man pulls out weapon on the Tyne riverwalk

A man and a woman have been confronted by an armed robber in Haddington as they walked by the River Tyne on Thursday evening.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident which occurred around 9.50pm.

The pair were approached by a man who asked to use a mobile phone before producing a weapon.

He robbed the couple of several items before heading in the direction of Nungate Bridge.

The suspect is described as white, around 30-years-old, between 5ft 6 and 5ft 9, medium to stocky build.

He spoke with a local accent.

He was wearing black trousers and a black jacket or hoodie with the hood up and a black face covering.

Police enquiries indicate that he might have been seen in the Waterside area around 10.25pm walking in the direction of Gifford Gate and Ford Road.

Anybody with any information should contact 101 quoting incident number 3681 of October 1.
