Harlaw Reservoir: Police find no evidence of 'poisoned tennis balls' after social media claims

Police in the Capital have found no evidence of ‘poisoned tennis balls’ after claims were made on social media that they were making dogs seriously ill.

Several posts on Facebook claimed that there were poisoned tennis balls left around the Harlaw Reservoir area that were causing sickness in animals.

The police have released a statement saying that they have conducted extensive enquiries with Park Rangers, the City of Edinburgh Council as well as local veterinary practices.

They have so far no identified any reported incidents of poisoning.

Acting Police Sergeant Christine Robertson from Oxgangs Police Station said: "While we have not received any formal reports regarding suspicious tennis balls or dog poisoning, if anyone has any information regarding this or believes their dog has been affected, please call 101 quoting

incident number 1012 of 29/12/20."

Harlaw Reservoir is a small reservoir in the Pentland Hills near Balerno and west of Edinburgh.
