Heartbroken friends raise funds for family of teenager allegedly murdered by his student girlfriend

Joshua Kerr died after being hit by a car near Leslie, Fife.

Friends of a teenager who was allegedly murdered by his girlfriend have raised money for the 18-year-old’s family who described him as “the perfect person.”

Joshua Kerr, from Glenrothes, died after he was hit by a car at Little Balquhomrie Farm in Glenrothes at around 11.10am on May 22.

His girlfriend Grace Ross, 18, is has been accused of murdering him in the alleged incident.

Heartbroken friends have since set up a fundraiser page to raise money to support Joshua’s family.

A statement on the page reads: “It is with much regret that our good friends Jamie Simpson, Angela Kerr and wee Jamie have tragically lost a true gem in their son/brother Josh.

“He will be deeply missed by the Simpson and Kerr families and everybody else who met Josh.

“He was a star in the making in the pool circuit and we were looking forward to him following in his dad's/grandad's footsteps into the snooker set up when he was ready.

“No parent should ever have to go through this heartache and we can’t make it any easier but we could try to ease the financial burden for them at this difficult time.

“RIP Josh x.”

The gofundme page has so far raised almost £3,500.

Joshua was an avid Rovers fan and used to often attend games held in Glenrothes with his friends.

The club has paid tribute to him since hearing of his death.

In a statement it said: “The club were devastated to hear about the sudden death of a devoted Rovers supporter last week.

“Joshua Kerr was aged 18 and attended games with his friends regularly as a season ticket holder from his home in Glenrothes.

“On Friday at 11am Josh was struck by a car in Glenrothes and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“An accomplished pool player as well as a football fan, Josh played competitively across the UK, and is survived by his mother, father and younger brother.

“The thoughts of everyone at RRFC are with the family at this sad time.

“Always willing to help others, Josh (alongside his mum Angela) also helped out in hospitality at Raith Rovers during the season just ended.”

Ms Ross appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Monday charged with murder following the incident.

She was released on bail and is due to appear in court again once a date is confirmed.
