Horrified Livingston woman discovers robber inside home in early hours

Livingston police have launched an investigation into a spate of early morning housebreakings after a woman surprised a robber inside her home.

Detectives appealed to the public to help catch the man, who is believed to have broken into two homes in the Eliburn area of the town on Wednesday, May 19.

Officers said properties in Foxknowe Place and Primrose Place were targeted between 3.25pm and 3.40pm.

In one incident, police said a woman was left “significantly distressed” after finding the stranger in her home.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have details about a man seen carrying a large bag over his shoulder while walking towards Peel Park.

He is white, with a slim build, and was wearing dark trousers, a light coloured top and white trainers.

Detective Sergeant John Bowerbank, of Livingston CID, said: “One woman who surprised a man in her home was left significantly distressed and we are appealing to anyone who can help with our enquiries to come forward.

“In particular we would like to speak to anyone who may have private CCTV and also drivers with dash-cam who may have been in the area.
