A plea has been released after reports of several attacks on sheep were made by dogs off their lead on Sunday morning.

Pentland Hills Regional Park a plea on social media stating: “We have had reports of several attacks on sheep by dogs off-lead this morning.

"Please report any incidents of dogs chasing or harassing sheep to Police Scotland on 101, describing the owners if possible.

"Sheep are pregnant with lambs just now, and can abort their young if chased.

"Land managers can shoot dogs attacking sheep.

"If you don't know 100% that your dog is extremely responsive, it should be on a lead around sheep (most dogs should therefore be on leads).”

They also added that people are not allowed to block farm entrances or park on the A702, and anybody doing so will be reported to the police.

When the main car park is full, people must respect that it is at capacity and park in the surrounding area causing blockages.
