Laverockbank Road: Local Councillors urge public to come forward with information after woman found with serious injuries in Edinburgh

A woman in her 60s was found by a passer by in the Trinity area with serious injuries.

Local Edinburgh Councillors are urging the public to come forward if they have any information about a woman found on a pavement in Trinity with serious injuries.

Police reported that the woman, described as in her 60s, was found by a passer-by on Laverockbank Road on Sunday September 27 at around 5.30pm.

They have appealed for help to identify her and are asking the public to come forward with any information on the incident.

Local Councillors in the area Jim Campbell and George Gordon have both spoken out to ask people to help if they can.

Mr Gordon, SNP Councillor for the ward, told the Edinburgh Evening News that he was in touch with the police involved in investigating the case.

He said: “It is not acceptable.

“I would reinforce the message that the police have released, if anyone knows anything, please come forward.

“I will keep following up with this and have offered assistance.

“It is highly concerning.

“I am concerned for the community if there is someone out there on the loose who is capable of this.”

Scottish Conservative Councillor Jim Campbell has also voiced his shock over the incident.

He said: “If anyone in the ward knows anything they need to go directly to the police.

“This is a real shock to the community.

“Laverockbank is a residential area with a lot of families this is not normal for this place.”

Both councillors stressed how important it was also that this woman’s family be informed of the incident.

The woman, who is now in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries has been described as in her 60s with grey hair.

She has a dental plate with four teeth and was wearing navy coloured trousers, a while coloured vest top and a teal coloured cardigan,all from Marks and Spencer.

She also had a navy coloured raincoat and was wearing black shoes with a Velcro strap.

The woman was also wearing a yellow and white metal ladies watch – Lorus brand and she had four keys, two mortice and two padlock type keys on a brown leather fob with the word ‘Traidcraft’ written on it.

Detective Inspector Jon Pleasance, Edinburgh CID said : “At present we are trying to establish how this woman came about her injuries. We need to find out who she is so we can let any family members know where she is and that she is very unwell.

“I would appeal to anyone who can assist in identifying her or was in the area of Laverockbank Road area of Edinburgh yesterday afternoon to come forward."

Information can be passed to Edinburgh CID via 101 quoting reference number 3537 of Sunday September 27.
