Leith incident: Car fire following collision near Edinburgh park

Residents were disturbed during the night following a crash involving several cars which left one vehicle on fire.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to the incident which happened in Hermitage Place near Leith Links at about 3.15am on Sunday morning.

Officers confirmed a car crashed into a number of parked vehicles in the street before catching fire.

The fire was extinguished, but several vehicles involved in the incident have been damaged.

A video from a witness at the scene shows a car on fire and several other damaged vehicles following the collision.

One resident living in Hermitage Place said: “There were four loud bangs on Hermitage Place in Leith.

“A car was on fire and it looks like it has hit other cars on street."

The fire service confirmed no injuries have been reported.

A SFRS spokeswoman said: “We were called to a road traffic incident at 3.17am this morning.

"One appliance attended to assist with the two vehicles involved, one of which was alight."

A police spokesman said: "We were made aware of a car having struck a number of parked vehicles on Hermitage Place in Edinburgh around 3.15am on Sunday, 21 February.

"The car subsequently caught fire and this was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. No one was injured.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 0568 of 21 February."
