Leith Links: Police cordon in place on Edinburgh street after man dies

A street and footpath in Leith have been cordoned off by police after a man died on Sunday morning.

John’s Place and Wellington Place, close to Leith Links, is currently sealed off by cops with a major police presence in the area.

Police Scotland have confirmed that they were called to the area at around 9.50am on Sunday following reports of a man being taken ill, who later died at the scene.

The Edinburgh Evening News has been told that there are currently three police vehicles at the scene, while pictures show an ambulance also in attendance.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called at 9.50am on Sunday, October 18 following reports of a man taken unwell in Wellington Place, Edinburgh.

"Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unsuspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
