Lochgelly: Man arrested after woman robbed of handbag in Fife

A man has been arrested after a robbery in Fife.

A 56-year-old woman had got off a bus at Bank Street and was heading down Chapel Street when the incident happened on Friday, February 12 at around 8.10pm.

Officers at the time said the man has been described as wearing dark clothing and a surgical style face mask at the time of the incident.

The stolen bag contained a three-figure sum of cash and her personal belongings.

Police announced on Tuesday that a man has been arrested in connection with this crime.

A statement on social media said: “With reference to our previous post regarding a 56-year-old woman who was robbed of her handbag on Chapel Street.

“A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with this robbery.

"He is due before Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 16 February, 2021.

"A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Officers would like to thank the public for their assistance with this inquiry.”
