Man arrested over Craigleith Retail Park assault, robbery

A MAN has been charged in connection with an assault and robbery carried out at a well-known Edinburgh retail park.

The incident happened on Wednesday, May 18, when a 12-year-old boy was assaulted and then robbed of his bike at a play park in Craigleith Retail Park.

Officers carried out significant local inquiries, which were aided by a public appeal for information, and subsequently arrested the 18-year-old.

He is scheduled to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Detective Sergeant Robbie Wallace of Corstorphine CID said: “Thanks to the invaluable assistance of the public officers swiftly traced and charged an 18-year-old man in connection with this crime.

“Such offences are completely unacceptable and we are committed to arresting anyone who is involved in violent crime.

“We will always act on information we receive and I would urge anyone who wants to report criminal activity in their community to contact police on 101.”
