Man charged over alleged hate crime aboard Bathgate train

A man has been charged in relation to an alleged hate crime on board a train at Bathgate Station.

The man, aged 27, from Edinburgh, has been charged according to Section 39 of the Criminal Justice and Licensing Act.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “A 27-year-old man from Edinburgh has been charged with an offence contrary to Section 39 of the Criminal Justice and Licensing Act.

“The charge relates to a hate crime on board a train at Bathgate station shortly before 12.30am on 2 August.”

The man’s arrest comes following an appeal to the trace a man who allegedly hurled a tirade of verbal abuse at a disabled girl aboard a train earlier this month.

It is claimed that five-year-old Alexa Quinn Fuller was crying on the train to Bathgate with family when a man shouted: “Will you shut your f****** mongo child up.”

Alexa’s father Danny Fuller was inundated with help from the public following an Evening News appeal to find the culprit.
