Man dies after car lost control on M8 at Harthill Services

A man has been killed after a serious road crash on the M8 at Harthill Services, just outside West Lothian.

The car lost control on the slip road leading into the services, mounted the grass verge and crashed into a lorry parked at the service station.

Emergency services were called at 2.20am this morning.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no other injuries, and police are investigating the cause of the crash.

The M8 was closed to Westbound traffic for several hours this morning and access to the services was restricted.

The motorway has now been reopened.
