A man has died in hospital after being hit by a car near Inverkeithing on Monday night.

The incident occurred at the roundabout between the A921 and B981 on the outskirts of Inverkeithing.

A 36-year-old man was struck by a Suzuki Celerio at around 10.20pm.

He was rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but died of his injuries on Tuesday.

The 63-year-old driver of the car was not physically injured.

Police have appealed to witnesses for information about the crash.

Sergeant Alastair Purvis of the Road Policing Unit in Glenrothes said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this difficult time.

"Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information or dashcam footage who has not yet spoken to police to make contact.
