Armstrong, of Woodburn Court, Dalkeith, in Midlothian, was found guilty of assaulting his first victim between February 2008 and November 2010 at an industrial estate and a wooded area in Wallyford, in East Lothian.

He was also convicted of taking part in sexual activity with the second boy between September 2012 and February last year in Musselburgh.

He was also found guilty of breaching a bail condition not to have unsupervised contact with children under 16 last year.

Lady Wise deferred sentence on first offender Armstrong, 23, for the preparation of a background report.

The judge told him that in light of the seriousness of the offences she was not prepared to continue his bail and remanded him in custody.

He was placed on the sex offenders’ register.
